I'm James Gibson and I'm the World 50m breaststroke champion. Watch my masterclass I'm going to give you some tips on how to swim advanced breaststroke. Let's start with the legs. To gain extra speed with your stroke, make sure you whip them together at the end. To improve your kick, make sure that your outwards and inwards movement is not too wide - not too far outside the width of your body. Once your arms have circled remember to bring your hands in and squeeze your elbows into the chest. Move your hands and elbows as quickly as you can and as smoothly as possible. Don't rush. Hold your body stretched and streamlined for one second. It is essential to have your hips high in the water - you do this by kicking downwards. A good way of practicing this is to lift your chest and shoulders before diving into the streamlined position. Try to breathe on every stroke. Now you're swimming with your head in the water, you must breathe out before you look ahead. To gain extra buoyancy in the water, keep your bum near the surface. That's my guide to breaststroke. Have fun!
