Step two

Your legs are strong and powerful and if you work them efficiently it can be like changing up a gear in a car.

The trouble with this is they use a lot of energy.

If you want to swim a long way you need to use them a little bit more slowly.

The important phrase to remember is fast legs for short distances and a slower kick for longer distances.

Try this out.

The easy way to check the speed of your legs is to count how many leg kicks you do for a length of the pool.

Then try changing the speed and count again. You'll soon get the hang of it.
