|Countdown to Athens|
|Around the Academy:
I had the best preparation available to me so I knew I had nothing to be nervous about. I was just really excited.
I did the best work ever and I was really pleased with how it all went.
Work since the Olympic trials in April was intense and I felt fitter than I'd ever been.
My aim was simply to get the best performance and time that I deserved. I knew it was impossible for me to control what the other competitors did.
As my event approached I'd gradually rest up for it, bringing my training volume down and getting more rest during the day so I felt sharper when I finally get on the block.
The quality of my sets remained the same but the intensity of the sessions dropped.
Normally I'd do two, two-and-a-half hard sets a day. This fell to two hours and then decreased even further as Athens got closer.
Final preparations are all about making sure everything goes according to plan.
Skills have to be the best they can be so I'll be working on turns and the like.
All I wanted to make sure I was the best I'd ever been.
