Thorpe is the most famous swimmer in the world
If you wanted to design the perfect swimmer then you'd have to use Ian Thorpe as your blueprint.

Standing at 6ft 5 inches tall, Ian has massive size 17 feet which have left his competitors literally trailing in his wake.

From an early age it was clear that Ian's trophy cabinet would have to be enormous as well.

And it wasn't long before he won his first gold medal at the World Championships in his trademark event, the 400m freestyle.

Getting up at four o'clock every morning might be tough, but for Ian it's been worth every stroke.
