Airwalk:
Trick performed in the air. Front foot is kicked out and back foot is kicked back so the legs are in a walking position. Can be done with or without grabbing the nose of the board for balance.
B
Backside:
Turn or rotate your board in the direction your toes point towards.
Bail:
Jump off the board and land on your feet when a trick has gone wrong.

Coping:
Any grindable and slidable material attached to an obstacle for easier grinds and slides.

Deck:
The piece of wood you stand on.

Early Grab:
Grabbing your board before leaving the ground.
F
Fakie:
Riding your board backwards.
Flip-trick:
When the board spins on any of its axes.
Front-side:
Turn or rotate your board in the direction your heels point towards.
G
Gnarly:
Skating style which focuses on tricks that take the boarder high in the air requiring skill and bravery. The opposite of "technical" tricks.

Goofy foot:
Skating with your right foot forward, like a surfer. Regular stance is to put your left foot forward.
Grinding:
When you jump onto a bench or curb and slide along it scraping your trucks. There are different types of grinds including crooked, nose-grind and 50-50.
H
Hardware:
Screws and nuts which connect the deck and trucks.
Heel-flip:
When in the air, move your front foot to the toe side of the board and flick the board with the ball of your foot. Once the board has flipped, try to get back on it and land - easier said than done!
I
Indy grab:
When in the air, grab the toe edge of the board with your back hand and poke the nose out
J
Judo:
Trick where you the grab the heel edge of your board near the front wheel with your front hand and kick your front foot out in front of you.
K
Kick-flip:
When in the air, move your front foot to the heel side of the board and flick the board with your toes. Once the board has spun, try to get back on it and land.
Kick-turn:
To turn the board around sharply, shift your weight away from the front of the board to the tail of the board.
Kingpin:
Large bolt which holds the trucks together. Can snap unexpectedly when riding.

Land:
To perform a trick successfully.
M
Manual:
A trick where you lift the front wheels without letting the tail touch the ground and cruise on the back wheels.
Mongo foot:
When pushing off, a mongo-footed skater keeps their back foot on the board and pushes with their front foot. The conventional way to push off is with your front foot on the board.
N
Nollie:
Short for a nose ollie. Use your front foot to smack the front of your board against the ground while your back foot pulls the board up into the air.
Nose:
The front of the board.
Slide that nose!

Nose Manual:
The exact opposite of the manual - the front wheels are rolling while the rear wheels are off the ground.
Nose-slide:
Slide the underside of the nose on a ledge or lip.
O
Ollie:
When your back foot smacks the tail of your board against the ground while your front foot pulls the board up into the air. The basis of most other tricks.
P
Power-slide:
Rotate the board by sliding the wheels. Can be used to stop the board.
Quarter-pipe:
A ramp with only one concave transition.
R
Regular foot:
When you skate with your left foot forward. Opposite of goofy foot.
S
Skate park:
Area with a variety of obstacles designed specifically for skating.
T
Tail:
The back end of the board.
Tail-slide:
Slide the underside of the tail on a ledge or lip.
Trucks:
The metal attachments which house the board's axles and connect the wheels to the deck.
U
V
Varial:
When you spin the board along its vertical axis without popping the board in the air.
W
Wall-ride:
Trick where you ride your board on a very steep or vertical wall.
