If you want to get into skateboarding it's a good idea to know a little about your board. Skateboards can be expensive - new boards start at around £50 but top of the range models can cost much more. Your first board will probably take a bit of a battering so why not pick up a hard-wearing cheap model or even a second-hand board. Remember, if you're learning to skate it's a good idea to get yourself some padding for your knees and elbows and a helmet to protect your head. When you've mastered the basics you might consider buying a lightweight board that will help you pull off more tricks.
