Britain has a long and proud history in equestrian - in Athens the team won one gold medal, five silver and one bronze.

If you fancy a go, read our guide to getting involved.


The sport
Equestrian is the only Olympic sport in which men and women compete against each other.

There are three Olympic Equestrian events - eventing, dressage and show jumping.

At the Olympics, horses must be the same nationality as their riders and each horse must be at least seven years old.


Getting started
If you're new to the sport and want to find out more, the British Equestrian Federation website is a good place to start.

The site is crammed with information for new and experienced riders and provides links to clubs all over the country. Check it out here:
