Great Britain's Beth Tweddle will get you on the beam in no time
Hi, I'm Beth Tweddle, part of the GB Olympic team.

And this is my Olympic gymnastic guide to the beam.

Watch my guide:

The beam is only 10cm wide but gymnasts must perform as if on the floor.

The judges will be looking for a series of jumps and acrobatic routines.

To help you understand the beam I will guide you through a simple routine.

The routine will consist of the most basic moves - walking forward and backward, jumps and a simple dismount.

Hopefully this little taster will get you out there wanting more.

You never know in a few years we may see you balancing your way to Olympic glory!
