Nicole Cooke has been destined for cycling stardom ever since she discarded her stabilisers! As a junior the hugely talented Welsh rider won virtually every British title possible. She rewrote the record books by scooping four Junior World titles in a year - the road race twice, the time trial, and mountain biking. Nicole was unable to compete at the Olympics in Sydney because she was too young. But she proved she could mix it with the best by scooping her first World Championship title the same year.
And now there's just no holding her back!
After taking the road race title at the Commonwealth Games in Manchester she then became the first British rider to win the World Cup. No doubt about the highlight of Nicole's career so far though - winning the Giro d'Italia. The women's equivalent of the Tour de France, it's one of the most gruelling cycling events on the planet. She missed out on an Olympic medal in Athens after finishing fifth in the road race, but, aged just 21, she'll have plenty more chances to get that gold!
