Desire to win drives Nicole

Past reputations count a bit - but in race situations it's the desire to win that's most important.

Getting to the start line in good shape has been an achievement in itself for me this year.

My preparations were disrupted as I had to have an operation to cure a knee injury. Not ideal!

But it solved the problem and things have gone well since.

My ambitions are still as strong as ever and I'm very fresh mentally.

Whatever sport you're in, the Olympics is your chance to show the world how good you are.

When I won the World Cup last year it was about performing on different courses on different days.

There's tremendous value in that, but the Olympics is still the big one for me. It's a one-off.

It comes around just once every four years and it's all about being the best on the day.
