|Puncture repair - step 4|
|Around the Academy:
Once you've repaired the puncture you will have to refit the tyre and tube.
If you coat the tube with French chalk first it will make it easier to fit.
To reinstall the tube inflate it a little so that it does not get pinched between the tyre lever and the rim.
Insert the valve and push the tube into the tyre.
Work your way round the wheel, tucking the tube into the deepest part of the rim.
Try to avoid twisting or creasing the tube.
Once the tube is inside the rim settle the tyre on the rim evenly all the way round.
Then, starting at the valve, push the tyre bead over the edge of the rim with your thumbs.
Continue this all the way round the tyre.
Don't use the tyre levers until right at the end.
Once you've checked that the tyre is fitted evenly, pump it up a bit more to straighten out the tube inside the tyre.
Finally, make the sure the valve is upright, screw on the rim nut finger tight and spin the wheel to check again that the tyre is fitted evenly.
If everything looks fine then pump the tyre up to normal pressure.
