Ding! Ding! Round one!
Around the Academy:

A referee counts out a floored boxer

Ding! Ding! Round one!

Everyone is familiar with that famous boxing cry but how many rounds are there in an Olympic boxing bout?

And how long do they last?

Well, the bout is fought over four rounds of two minutes each.

The rounds are pretty intense so there is a break of one minute between each one.

This allows the boxers to sit down in their opposite corners and take a breather .

Their trainer can give them a pep talk as the boxer gets a cooling drink of water.

And a doctor might have to patch up a cut or two to allow the fight to continue.

Then it's Ding! Ding Round two! and the boxers must be ready to resume the battle for points!
