It's easy to get involved in rugby

If you're aged between six and 12, why not give Mini Rugby a try.

Rugby's a tough sport. And Mini Rugby is just as exciting - but not quite as rough!

Basically, the rules are the same as the full game.

There are seven players in a team and the aim is to pass and carry the ball to the other end of a pitch.

Instead of knocking players over, tackles are made by touching the ball carrier on the waist.

That's why some people call it touch rugby.

There are no scrums, line-outs, rucks or mauls.

Mini Rugby teams can be mixed.

So remember girls, there's no excuse to hang back!

This is the version most schools and clubs offer younger players so why not ask your teacher or club coach about getting started.

Your local rugby development officer will also be able to give you all the help and advice you need.
