|Paula George: Why I love rugby|
|Around the Academy:
I got into playing rugby union as a dare really!
Watch my story in video
I was very much a netball player.
I took up the dare on behalf of the netball players for Cardiff University, where I studied, with every intention of only going along for one session.
And then I absolutely fell in love it.
When you think about female team sports like hockey and netball, there's no physical contact.
You can run with the ball in hockey, but you have to control it with a stick.
In netball you can use your hands, but you can't run with the ball.
And then suddenly you have this game where you can use your handling skills and use your physical features and you run with this ball.
And you can almost do anything you want and that is what appeals to me so much.
If you asked me if people react strangely when I tell them I'm a rugby union player 10 years ago, then the answer would have been yes.
But not so much nowadays, society is much more open minded than in days gone by.
We have a really successful England women's team and as a result, we've got more and more girls playing.
