Around the Academy:

Jonah makes a big challenge in training
Training is seriously hard work - but well worth it

Jonah Lomu

On an average day, I do about six to seven hours of training a day.

But that's not just physical training, there's plenty of mental training, preparing myself for different strategies, that sort of thing.

Usually, I'm out at six in the morning for a run.

Then we have a break for breakfast before a physical training session.

After that is a personal one-on-one session with the coaches.

After lunch comes the afternoon team session, followed by a strategy session on the drawing board.

Then we have one final training session and we usually finish around 7pm

It's a very tough day.

I enjoy every aspect of training.

The worst part of it is getting up when it's really early and it's cold - you don't want to get out of bed!

When I wake and feel like going back to bed, I say to myself: "Do I want to be an All Black? Do I want to play?" and usually the answer is yes.

So I get up and I go. If you enjoy the game and you want to go that bit further, you've got to do the hard yards.
