The first of many trophies for Everton's star striker?
It started with 10, then three, and then it was one.
Would the new winner of this year's BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year award please step forward. And it is........ Everton's Wayne Rooney. We're sure it won't be the last time the 17-year-old will be clutching some gleaming silverware.
Before the voting could begin, thousands of you guys, along with BBC's Blue Peter viewers, all sent in your suggestions for the year's top sporting young talent. The judging then went down to the responsibility of some of the country's favourite stars.
The panel included Denise Lewis, Tanni Grey-Thompson and Steve Cram. They got their thinking heads on and had some very difficult decisions to make. Shooter Charlotte Kerwood, gymnast Becky Owen and Wayne were selected in the final three and they all made it to Sunday's grand presentation at BBC Television Centre.
I wonder who'll be making the grade next year? Perhaps it could be you. In the mean time, click on the right-hand links for a look at the contenders in the original list of 10.
