About a ball
Around the Academy:

Ball
The balls are about the same size as a football - so if you haven't got a netball you can start off practising with one of those.

The first netballs were made of leather, but in wet weather they became slippery and less easy to pass.

So now they are made from rubber or a waterproof material which allows players to get a better grip.

The balls are made up of panels which help improve the flight of the ball in the air.

The colour of the balls has also evolved. They started off brown, then orange, and then went two-tone in white and black before an all-white ball was decided upon.
