Improving your co-ordination
Around the Academy:

Serena Williams and David Beckham are both highly co-ordinated sport stars.

They can co-ordinate the movements of their body with a ball to send the ball where they want it and at the desired speed.

Serena can hit a ball with top spin. She moves the racket in such a way, that the energy is transferred to the ball.

When the ball lands it bounces in an unexpected way. She's also talented at moving around the court.

She co-ordinates her arms and legs so she can get to the best place and in the correct position to receive and hit the ball.

Many elite performers started off in different sports to the ones they finally excelled in.

So in terms of future sport performance it's important that you develop your co-ordination.

This will help you perform in all sports for the rest of your life.

So check out our hand eye co-ordination drills. And catching is a great way of doing this.

We all perform tasks in our own individual way, but there are key principles you'll need for effective throwing and catching.

If you want to develop your lower body co-ordination you can take some of the tasks and try them with a football.
