Groin
Around the Academy:

We will now concentrate on stretching the groin.

Watch my stretch tips in video

The groin is on the inside of your thighs and one of the areas where young sports players have regular problems.

Liverpool and England midfielder Steven Gerrard has been plagued by groin problems since he was a youngster.

He missed the World Cup because he had to have an operation on it.

So make sure you stretch your inner thighs really well.

Here are my three tips to this stretch:

  • Sit on a mat with your back straight and your knees bent, putting the bottoms of your feet together and keeping your feet close to your body

  • With your hands on your knees, lean forward slightly as you gently press your knees down towards the floor

  • You should feel a gentle stretch through the groin

Do not press down on your knees with your hands as you can injure your groin
