Hockey basics - The stick
Around the Academy:

To play hockey, you need to be able to control, pass, push, stop and shoot the ball with your hockey stick.

The curved head of a hockey stick has a flat side and a rounded side.

Remember - you can only play the ball with the flat side of the stick.

Players are generally not allowed to raise their stick above shoulder level.

They are permitted to do so to defend a goal - but only if it isn't a danger to other players.
