If Darren Clarke could...
Around the Academy:

Darren Clarke would love to watch the Ryder Cup
Fifth in our series of our "if you could..." questions is golfer Darren Clarke. Here he explains what he'd say to himself if he could go back in time.

If you could...

Sport Academy: Play another golf hole what would it be and why?

Darren Clarke: There's probably no hole that I'd want to play again because I've always done my best on every hole I've played.

Not be asked one question for the rest of your career?

'How are you playing?' I get asked it all the time and I never know how I'm going to play.

Be a pop star for the day?

If I could be a pop star? I met Ronan Keating for the first time at the British Masters and he seemed like a really good guy.

Be another sports star for the day?

Michael Schumacher because of the need for speed!

Have dinner with anyone from the past or present?

Probably with my manager Chubby Chandler because we tend to enjoy ourselves to say the least!

Witness one event from history?

I'd love to go and watch the Ryder Cup at one stage as opposed to playing in it. If I end up going to watch it I'll know exactly what's going through the player's minds.

Win anything in the world?

The Open championship because it's the biggest and the best.

Go back in time and give advice to a 13-year-old Darren Clarke?

The Open Championship trophy
Darren is eyeing the Claret Jug

Don't drink, don't smoke, don't go overweight!! Nah I'd do exactly as I have done but I'd probably just spend more of my younger years working on my short game. If there's any area of my game that's a little bit weak it's that.

Have any number on your mobile phone?

I can't say!!!

Watch out for more of our "if you could" questions in the future.
