The grip
Around the Academy:

Paul Lawrie shows the Academy the grip he uses for the driver
Make sure you have a good grip before you swing

Paul Lawrie

I use the overlap grip, or the Varden grip as it is called after its inventor, Harry Varden.

Two knuckles are showing on my left hand and the V is pointing to my right shoulder.

Finally, my little finger on my right hand sits on top of my left hand.

The pressure of the grip is more important.

Grip the club reasonably lightly.

If you grip it too tightly, you'll have tension in your arms.

This means you are not relaxed when you swing and it will show when the ball goes off target.
