McDowell's instant success
Graeme McDowell
Graeme improved his game while in Alabama.

Scholar Graeme

Graeme puts a lot of his success down to the development of his game during his three years in Alabama.

He also believes that a golf scholarship is a great way for any young player to improve their game.

"I spent three years in Alabama; it is very good, it balances sport and education really well," said Graeme.

"I was able to go there, play golf for three years, play some really competitively stuff against some really good players and also have the opportunity to study as well.

"The three years out there helped me an awful lot. I became a more confident person, a much more rounded golfer.

"I was able to give my education a chance as well.

"Before I went I spent a year at Queens University in Belfast and everything was great in that area, but I just wasn't giving my golf game a chance.

"I think college sport in the USA has the perfect balance and I would definitely recommend to any young player that a golf scholarship is a very good option and will make them better players."
