McDowell's instant success
Graeme McDowell
Graeme's victory was totally unexpected

Scandanavian master

Graeme could hardly have got his professional career off to a more perfect start.

Although he had failed to make the cut twice in his first three tournaments it was in his fourth that the name Graeme McDowell came to the forefront as he walked away with the first prize.

"Winning the tournament meant everything to me really," he said.

"It was pretty incredible really.

"I couldn't believe how calm I felt. Friday was probably the toughest day for me, I felt it was a really, really big learning experience for me.

"I was leading the tournament going into the second round, it was a tough day.

"I didn't play that well but I hung in there, I promised myself I was going to have a good weekend, have fun at the weekend.

"I made sure I did that and learning from the experience of Friday I was very relaxed Saturday and Sunday and played some nice golf.

"To have that three foot putt to win was dream come true stuff and standing in the scorer's tent watching it all unfold was a pretty cool feeling."

The tournament win also came as a total surprise to Graeme.

"I didn't expect it at all, I was just trying to play as solidly as I could the first couple of months and hopefully have a couple of top tens, make some money and get myself up the order of merit a little bit.

"Obviously to win this early is pretty incredible stuff really."
