Padraig: Trainee accountant
Around the Academy:

Padraig Harrington and Darren Clarke
Darren Clarke was a team-mate in the Ryder Cup
When did you know you wanted to turn pro?

"I wasn't really sure what I wanted to do when I left school at 18.

"I loved golf and wanted to play professionally but wasn't sure I was good enough.

"So I decided to study accountancy so I could still work in the game - maybe as as a player's manager or running a golf course.

"A couple of years into the course, my golf started improving and when I was 21, I decided that I would eventually turn pro.

"But I always like to finish things so I took another couple of years to complete the course and I turned pro three years later when I was 24.

"When I did turn pro it took the pressure off my golf, knowing I had that to fall back on.

"I was surprised to win my first tournament after just ten weeks on the Tour.

"I'd never thought I could be a star or anything."
