Harrington and Montgomerie made a winning team
Padraig Harrington was an important member of the European team which dramatically won the Ryder Cup 15 1/2-12 1/2 against the USA at the Belfry in 2002. The Irishman set his team on track with superb performances over three days, including a brilliant 5 and 4 victory over Mark Calcavecchia in the singles.
As a boy Harrington dreamt of being part of a successful European Ryder Cup team - and now his dream has come true. But he only took up playing golf at the relatively late age of 15. And, since turning pro nine years later in 1995, he has since risen to become one of the top golfers in the world.
Here he talks exclusively to BBC Sport Academy about his career.
