The European team in action in the 2001 Ryder Cup
The Auld Enemy Cup is similar to the Ryder Cup
Andy was captain of the English Blind Golf Association team in 2002.

The biggest date in the calendar is the annual showdown against Scotland in the Auld Enemy Cup.

Gilford said: "It's a great tournament played in the same format as the Ryder Cup or the Solheim Cup."

The current score between the two countries is seven wins all.

"During the last tournament England went into the last day three shots down.

"But we managed to level the scores with the very last putt to retain the trophy," said Gilford.

Andy has the lowest handicap of any partially sighted/blind golfer in the UK.

His swing is technically good, it's the short shots that he finds difficult because he can't see.

"Unfortunately, your short game deteriorates with the failure of your sight, so you depend on your guide here. Although they are invaluable this can occasionally hamper you."
