Is this offside?
Around the Academy:

Think you know your offsides?

You should be getting the hang of all these offsides now. Ready for another?

It's Man United this time. Paul Scholes gets the ball and is looking for a through-ball.

He pokes a pass into the path of Ruud van Nistelrooy.

Ruud is quick as lightening but when he's just about to race through to goal the flag goes straight up!

Why's that then?

When Scholes played the ball forward the United striker was in front of the defenders.

This is offside because Van Nistelrooy is nearer to the opposition goal than the second last opponent.

It's all about timing your run!
