Nine fab facts about Wayne's world
Around the Academy:

Wayne Rooney scores his second goal against Croatia
Europe is getting used to seeing Rooney scoring
England's Wayne Rooney is Europe's most talked about star after becoming a multi-million pound signing for Man Utd.

Find out more about the boy who's set to become Liverpool's biggest export since the Beatles!

Home from home
Wayne grew up on the Croxteth housing estate in East Liverpool. Locals still call his old home "the big white house", even though it's no bigger than the others!

Making your mark
Wayne's former home in Croxteth lies empty. But scratched on one of the windows are the words: "WR, Rooney E.F.C." - he supported Everton as a boy.

No hanging about
A fresh-faced Wayne was at school one minute, and the next he was in the Everton first team!
Wayne was so good he was in Everton's academy while still at De La Salle school. He then went straight into the Toffees first team squad!

Baptism of fire
Wayne celebrates his wonder-goal against Arsenal
At 16 Wayne made his top flight debut against Spurs and five days before his 17th birthday he scored an incredible last-minute winner against Arsenal.

He's in the money
Wayne has loadsamoney!
Before turning 17 and becoming eligible for a professional contract Wayne was playing for 100 a week - it's set to become a little more than that!

Record breaker
Wayne can't stop breaking records. He's the youngest ever Everton scorer, youngest cap and youngest ever scorer for England. He was the youngest ever scorer at the Euro Champs until Switzerland's Johann Vonlathen nicked the record from him.

Temper temper
Wayne has already collected more than his fair share of yellow cards
Rooney collected more yellow cards for Everton last season than goals - but part of Wayne's game does involve some natural aggression. Defenders beware!

The ball bulges the back of the Swiss net for Wayne's second goal of Euro 2004
Keep it in the family
There's more bad news for future Premiership and international defences - Wayne's 11-year-old brother John is on the books at Everton!

Wedding bells
Wayne will marry childhood sweetheart Colleen McCloughlin next year. He bought her a huge diamond engagement ring. Aww, isn't that nice!
