The football transfer uncovered
Around the Academy:

James Beattie moved from Southampton to Everton
James Beattie is the first big-name transfer of 2005
It's transfer time again, with unsettled players looking for a new challenge and managers hoping to snap up a bargain.

Transfers are big business and the figures involved can blow your mind, but what actually happens when a player makes the switch?

We enlisted the help of two top footy insiders to find out what really goes on.

First up, we spoke to football's very own bargain hunter, Dave Bassett.

Dave's 21 years of football management have seen him win a record seven promotions - so he's obviously got an eye for a bargain.

Next we spoke to the all-important agent. Jonathan Barnett works with some of the biggest names in English football.

With Kieron Dyer, Ashely Cole, Wayne Bridge and Titus Bramble among his clients, Jonathan knows all about big names and big-money moves.
