Life in the juniors of Charlton Ladies!

Kimberley Dixson always puts her football first
Kimberley Dixson always puts her football first

Hi, I'm Kimberley Dixson, and I play for the Charlton Athletic under-16 girls' team.

I've loved playing football for as long as I can remember, and I've always been a huge Charlton fan.

My school doesn't have a girls' team, so at the age of 10 I came for trials with Charlton.

They offered me a place, and I've been here ever since.

Most of my friends are really supportive of me and my football, but some of the boys at school can be a bit horrible about it.

That doesn't bother me though. I reckon it's just because I'm better than them and they're jealous!

You do have to make sacrifices if you want to be good at the game, but they're well worth it.

It can be hard to keep a social life, because I can't really go out with my mates the night before a match or training session.

I have to make sure I take on plenty of fluids and get an early night, while my friends will be out having a good time.

That's fine by me though, because I'd rather be playing football than going out on the town!

Having said that, I've made loads of new friends through football, and we all get on really well.

We spend a lot of time together and we've all got something in common, so in many ways I'm closer to my team-mates than my friends outside of football.

I also have to watch what I eat, so trips to McDonalds are out of the question!

I try to eat loads of fruit and vegetables, and I love pasta.

I've got used to eating healthily - in fact I've almost gone off burgers and chips!
