Arthur Numan enjoys the rare occasion of scoring
When I was young, maybe 12 or 13, I would always get very nervous before playing in a cup final. I suppose that was because I was so excited. It's such a big day because you know that at the end of it you could win something, a cup or a medal. I think the best thing to do is just to go out and do your best. There's nothing more you can do. Try to play as you'd always do. It's important to enjoy the occasion. After all, how often do you get the chance to play in a cup final?
When I was a youth player my team manager always told me: 'Go out, enjoy the day and do your best. 'If you win then you're lucky and if you lose, then bad luck - maybe you'll have another chance to lift the trophy.' And I still believe in that philosophy about cup finals - even now at my age!
