The rise of Kieron Dyer
Around the Academy:

Kieron Dyer talks to The Academy

Newcastle United's Kieron Dyer is one of the hottest English talents in the Premiership.

His lightning pace and ability on the ball has seen him shine for both Newcastle and former club Ipswich Town.

The 25-year-old has had his fair share of injury problems, but he'll be aiming to put those behind him ahead of Euro 2004.

There was a time when the slightly-built Dyer feared he might not make it as a professional.

He tells the Academy how that changed, how he could have been a middle distance runner and admits an embarrassing musical secret.
