Spacey helped Fulham to win a glorious Treble
As soon as I saw a football I wanted to kick one around. Watch my story in video Football was a game that appealed to me and it developed during my school years within a youth club, rather than at school, and then into senior football as early as 13. That doesn't happen now but did then. I only really got involved through my father's sheer tenacity in trying to find me somewhere to play and the fact that five of us at a netball club were kicking the netballs around.
The improvements happening now and the opportunities available can only be born out of experience and the fact that there was nothing in place for girls then. Those lessons have been learnt and things are progressing on. But it might be six to ten years before the real benefits of putting the efforts in at grassroots now will be seen.
But to any young girls out there wanting to get involved in football - give it a go. Enjoy it and make the most of it because you don't know what is going to happen next. Even when you lose you still learn and in the end you win from losing. Don't lose hope, the chance is out there.
The ultimate goal is playing for your country. Whether you are professional, amateur or a Sunday parks player, you dream of playing for your country. You dream of representing your family, friends and team-mates - it's the highest accolade you can get, and England is the home of football.
