And as an experienced England international he has played in World Cup's and European Championships.

"Being a professional footballer is the greatest thing I could ever imagine. There isn't anything in your life that can give you a buzz like running out in front of 60,000 people.

"I think for anybody who has got the talent and ability to be a professional it is worth all the hard work.

"I've enjoyed the ten years that I have had so far and hopefully I can keep on going for another seven or eight years yet.

"It's a time that you just want to keep on going for as long as you can."
