Be a master driver with Graham Thorpe
Around the Academy:

Graham Thorpe plays the front foot drive

Hi, I'm Graham Thorpe of Surrey and England and this is my guide to driving off the front foot.

Front foot drives are usually played through extra cover, mid-off or mid-on.

Watch my masterclass:

Remember:

  • Get your front foot to the pitch of the ball

  • Your foot should be pointing in the direction you want the ball to go

  • Get your head over your front knee, this will help to keep the ball along the ground

Sometimes, against faster bowling, you can't get your foot to the pitch of the ball, so it's important to get your balance right.

That's my guide to playing the front foot drive, now get out in the nets and start practising.
