Give GB sprinter Marlon Devonish some running shoes and he'll be dreaming of more Olympic medals.
Give him some decks and headphones and his dreams will involve huge crowds, jumping up and down bopping to his tunes.
I love my music. I train to it and it helps me focus at championships. The headphones usually go on before a race so people don't come up to me! But nothing like RnB or a Barry White vibe! That would put me to sleep. It's usually something upbeat - Twister's album is a good one with a high tempo. Listening to music is my way of staying focused. It gets you buzzing and thinking about running quick. Away from the track, RnB is usually my thing, or soul, or reggae. I'm going through a bit of an urban phase at the moment, as well as a lot of the old school stuff.
Being behind the decks is something I've always enjoyed doing. The very first record I bought was a seven inch of Michael Jackson's Bad - which was terrible! I just built up my collection, bought a system and my cousins and friends started coming round. I made a few tapes and then it just got circulated.
A DJ mate played in a nearby town and I used to mess about there and the crowd seemed to like what I did at the time! I've done it a few times and it's just amazing when you do a good mix and everybody's jumping around. My ideal venue would be a stadium, playing garage or house and seeing the crowd roaring. It would be a dream come true! It's a hobby more than anything. I'd love to really get into it - producing or something and see if I'm any good at it.
