|Be a sprint king with Justin Gatlin|
|Around the Academy:
Olympic 100m champion Justin Gatlin explains what makes him so fast.
I always used to play basketball and American football as a kid but when I was 15 I realised I was fast.
And without wanting to be big-headed, I just wanted to show it off! I now run in the 100m and 200m.
To be a top quality sprinter, the main thing you need to work on is your technique.
Learning the correct technique will help bring you to the pinnacle of your career.
You've also got to take care of yourself. Just be careful and look after your body.
It's important to have fun with athletics and there's also a time to be serious about it.
If it's really what you want to do then stay on top of it.
Be a student of athletics - or track and field as we call it in the States.
You have to learn everything you need to learn about it. Learn my technique, Maurice Greene's, everybody's. Just keep learning!
As for starting a race, when you come out of the blocks stay really low and use your arms. Your arms are the key to the race.
It might sound obvious but the faster your arms move, the faster your legs will move.
And make sure you have enough energy for the end of the race.
Just keep pushing and keep going for that gold!
And don't worry about anybody else. You are out there for a reason. You are out there to win.
I want to be the best runner in the world.
