Greene: "You've got to believe you can win"
Former world record holder Maurice Greene gives his tips on the art of sprinting.
What are your three top tips for runners who see themselves as the next Maurice Greene? The most important thing is that you train hard. If you do not train hard you will never fulfil your potential.
At times it is tough and it can also be frustrating when you are not producing your best. When the victories start to roll in, however, it all seems worth it.
My second tip would be to focus on race day. When the gun fires you must concentrate for every second on the way to that finish line. You should know exactly how long it will take you to and think about every step of the race you are about to run. Have faith in your ability Finally, you have got to believe in yourself everytime you go out there and race. If you have no faith in your ability all that training has been a waste of time. There are so many athletes out there who could run sub 10 seconds in training but fail on the big occasion. It is only those who believe in their ability who shine when it matters.
