My battle with fitness
Ashia Hansen holds her hands on her hips
Injuries could have turned Ashia's back on athletics

Ashia Hansen reveals all to the Sport Academy

Injuries have been a real curse for me over the last few years.

I've actually been injured every year since 1994/5 with some problem or other.

They have really clouded my career but it's something that just happens.

You have to be mentally so strong about it.

But you have to appreciate that it affects all athletes. It's part of the job.

Unless you are very, very lucky and that's rare.

It is important though not to go into training protecting yourself.

Because that is the quickest way of picking up injuries.

After my victory in the Commonwealths I am feeling so much better.

It would be so nice to have at least a three-year run to the next Olympics in Athens.

We'll have to wait and see.
