Jackson avoided the bad influences!
Teenage Years
I wouldn't describe it as a normal life when I was growing up, because I was quite successful quite early. Nothing was normal but that was just Colin Jackson's life and I knew nothing different. One of the biggest advantages I had was that two of my best friends at school actually left the city and moved to London. That really made me more committed to the sport as I had lots more time to put in, so there was a little good fortune there. I still know one of them quite well. He's a professional cricket coach and jets back and forward between London and Barbados. My other mate is a normal family man with two kids and his wife, so he's very happy.
