Matt had little time for goodbyes

Matthew McLean
I'm devastated that I'm the first person to leave.
Matt on elimination
I didn't expect it at all. I had a bad first three events and I underperformed.
Going into the elimination I was trying to be more positive than negative. I had more points than Garth and I thought that might work in my favour.
So I was surprised to be leaving after performing better than one of the others.
But I guess if you don't perform, you go home.
Saying goodbye to everyone was tough. And I only had about 20 seconds to do it.
I'm going to take a couple of days out to recover. I'll speak to the rest of my family to help me regroup.
The training I've been doing for Born To Win will help my rugby but it makes me even more gutted because I've worked so hard.

I know I could have done better, that's what's so disappointing.
I'll be rooting for Leigh because he's one of my best mates out there. I think he's got a chance of winning and I thought I might be there with him.
The constant pressure to compete against each other has been tough considering we all get on so well.
I'll concentrate on the positives. To get this far in the first place is good considering 5,000 people entered and I got as far as the last 10 boys.
I'm not feeling great now but making it this far is a confidence boost. Long term it won't put doubt in my ability.
I'm determined as ever because I know what I've got to work on.
I need to pull out the best performances all the time rather than being inconsistent.
