Steven Reid

Club: Millwall
Position: Midfielder

Reid had already booked a holiday to Barbados and was on his way to the airport when he received the late call from manager Mick McCarthy.

He only made the squad as a replacement for the injured Mark Kennedy, but McCarthy believes he has the required attributes for international football.

He did not feature in qualifying and looks destined for a place on the bench.

But his attacking style of play - he has scored five goals this season for Millwall - should suit McCarthy's game plan.
