Mark Kinsella

Club: Charlton
Position: Midfielder

The Charlton Athletic midfielder has been overshadowed in midfield by Manchester United's Roy Keane and the scintillating displays of Kevin Kilbane and Damien Duff recently.

And the 29-year-old faces a battle with Matt Holland for a place in the centre of midfield alongside Roy Keane.

He lacks the pace of his younger rivals and the wisdom of more senior players but his workmanlike ethos and his awareness on the ball have ensured his position in the Republic of Ireland squad.

Back in 2000, he was named Ireland's player of the season.
