Joerg Boehme

Club: Schalke 04
Position: Defender

With Joerg Heinrich having to pull out of the German squad after picking up an injury, Schalke 04 player Boehme was brought in as a replacement.

However, Germany's injury jinx struck Boehme and he returned home midway through the tournament with a leg muscle tear.

Boehme has only six caps but has impressed German coach Rudi Voeller.

"It's come as quite a surprise. Of course I'm happy andproud to be going," said Bohme.

Boehme performed well at the end of the current Bundesliga season.

He scored a spectacular goal against Bayer Leverkusen that helpedSchalke capture the German Cup for the second straightyear.
