Fabien Barthez

Club: Manchester United
Position: Goalkeeper

Fabien Barthez is one of the most colourful goalkeepers in football.

His remarkable agility and speedy and accurate distribution were key to France's successes in both the World Cup of 1998 and Euro 2000.

He is also good with the ball at his feet. However, his overconfidence in this department has seen his game blemished by all-too-frequent mistakes.

He earned a public rebuke from club manager Sir Alex Ferguson after making several errors in the early stages of the Premiership and Champions League this season.
