Edison Mendez

Club: Deportivo Quito
Position: Midfielder

Edison Mendez was something of a "Mr Fix It" during Ecuador's qualifying campaign.

He replaced the injured Alex Aguinaga to excellent effect in central midfield, and made appearances on the right and left of midfield as well as at full-back.

While his all-round skills are not quite of the calibre of Aguinaga's, he has been a sensation in an international career that has lasted just two years.

He either scores or creates goals at vital times but it remains to be seen where he will be played.
