Gilberto Martinez

Club: Saprissa
Position: Defender

Martinez has become a favourite of manager Alexandre Guimaraes, who gave him his first start during his first game as Ticos manager.

The 22-year-old started the play-off against Guatemala and has been capped more than 20 times by his country.

He is now recognised as one of Costa Rica's most talented new players.

And he was just 10 years old the last time his country were in the World Cup and has said that the chance to live out the Italia 90 adventure for himself is a dream come true.
