Paulo Wanchope

Club: Manchester City
Position: Forward

Paulo Wanchope will forever be remembered in England for the remarkable goal he scored on his debut for Derby County against Manchester United in 1997.

A magnificent solo run and cool finish summed up the very best elements of one of the game's most erratic performers.

Wanchope can inspire and frustrate in equal measure. After leaving Derby in a 3.5m move to West Ham he went through the most frustrating period of his career.

His inconsistent performances at Upton Park led to him being booed by sections of the Hammers support.

A move to Manchester City followed, where earlier this season he played his part in the Blues' promotion to the Premiership.

He has been sidelined with a knee injury since March but he is aiming to to be fit for the World Cup.
