Costa Rica captain misses out

Costa Rica captain Reynaldo Parks has been ruled out of the World Cup with a knee injury.

Parks pulled out just three days after the central Americans became the first team to set up their training camp in Japan.

Costa Rica coach Alexander Guimaraes revealed that Parks aggravated the knee that has bothered him in recent months during training in Suzuka on Thursday.

" It's best to stand aside for a player who is in top shape "

He will be replaced by Pablo Chinchilla.

"I thought it would be okay to play but it is just going to cause trouble for the team if I am not 100%.

"It's best to stand aside for a player who is in top shape," said Parks.
